Roblox Prototype Builder: create, edit, and verify a Draft
The Roblox Prototype Builder keeps a plan, immutable Builds, constrained revisions, and Build-matched evidence together. Create a starter Draft, then edit without losing the earlier version.
A practical creator sequence
Start from an idea, preserve the first Draft, and let evidence guide each next revision.
- 01Keep the last usable Build.
- 02Approve one exact change at a time.
- 03Treat new runtime proof as Build-bound.
Define the smallest player loop
A prototype is most useful when someone can tell what the player does, why, and what changes.
Describe one repeatable action, one form of feedback, and one short-term goal. For an Obby, that may be moving between checkpoints and reaching a finish. For a survival game, it may be waiting, avoiding a hazard, and seeing a round result. For another genre, reduce the idea to a starter loop before listing future systems. A concise brief makes it easier to identify what the initial Draft can actually demonstrate.
You can begin with a provided template or type your own prompt into the same composer. Those are two ways of describing an idea, not two separate agents or approval paths. The workspace should show a scope check and a reviewable plan. If a request needs missing genre-specific systems, the plan should name that gap rather than silently relabel a generic scene as a complete game.
Know which game shapes are mature
The Roblox Prototype Builder accepts more ideas than its two most developed templates.
Obby and Round Survival have bounded initial Build paths, with known project structure and test expectations. Other ideas, including Tycoon, Simulator, and tower defense concepts, can start through a generic starter-prototype path. That path can help inspect a proposed core loop, visual direction, or player feedback, but Roblox play remains unverified and the Build does not create every genre mechanic, progression system, monetization feature, or multiplayer rule implied by the label.
When you review the plan, look for three categories: what the first Build will contain, what remains an assumption, and what is outside the current supported surface. If the intended experience depends on an unsupported mechanic, simplify the first loop or defer that feature. This is a design choice, not a failure of the idea. A small honest prototype gives you something to test and revise without pretending a broad genre is finished.
Keep revisions tied to a real Build
Editing is most reliable when the target, change, and evidence all refer to the same version.
After plan confirmation, download the .rbxlx Draft and keep its Build ID. Use a specific revision request: name the object, rule, or section to change, the behavior to preserve, and the outcome you want. The Agent can propose a bounded change and show what it intends to touch. A statement in chat is not a completed edit; completion requires the modification to be applied, persisted, built, and checked against the new version.
The workflow keeps earlier Builds instead of replacing the only usable file. Generated Luau modifications are limited to declared writable files and require approval of the exact diff. This is helpful for focused changes to a project produced here. It is not a general-purpose editor for arbitrary imported Roblox repositories or an automatic round-trip for manual Studio edits. If you change the Studio file directly, record that separately so the workspace does not assume it knows the new state.
Decide what counts as proof
Use build reports and playtests for different questions; neither substitutes for the other.
A structural check can confirm that a generated file exists, references expected objects, and satisfies certain constraints. It cannot tell you whether the game feels fair, whether a player understands the objective, or whether a multiplayer rule works across clients. Open the exact Build in Roblox Studio, test the core loop, note confusing moments, and capture findings tied to that version. For a revision, retest the affected behavior even if an older Build had already passed.
Use the result to choose one next improvement: clearer feedback, a shorter wait, a safer checkpoint, or a better first minute. Keep release checks separate from prototype checks, including device behavior, asset permissions, rights, and publication. The Roblox Prototype Builder is a way to move from prompt to editable Draft to evidence-backed iteration. It is not an instant browser game, a guarantee of commercial success, or an automatic Roblox release pipeline.
What a revision actually changes
A creator can review a change proposal, approve a bounded modification, generate a new Build, compare its report with the prior Build, and restore a historical snapshot if needed. Generated Luau edits are limited to declared writable files and require approval of the exact diff. This is not a general editor for arbitrary imported Roblox projects. For Tycoon, Simulator, and Tower Defense ideas, the current generic path creates a starter prototype, not complete genre-specific mechanics.
Example revision request
Keep the existing route and reward logic. Move the second checkpoint closer to the moving platform, make the landing area wider, then build a new version. Show what changed and which checks still need Roblox Studio testing.
Before you start
Scope and editing questions worth resolving before you build.
Can I use this for a game other than Obby or Round Survival?
Yes. Describe the idea and review the scope. Other genres can begin from a generic starter prototype; Roblox play remains unverified, and the current Build path does not include complete genre-specific mechanics for Tycoon, Simulator, tower defense, or every possible Roblox game.
Can the Agent edit any Roblox project I upload?
No. Current edits are bounded to supported generated projects and declared writable files. The Agent is not a general arbitrary-project editor, and manual changes made in Studio are not automatically imported into its project state.
What should I do after the first Draft?
Open that exact Build in Studio, test the smallest player loop, and note one observed problem. Request a precise revision, review its proposed scope, generate a new Build, and test it again. Keep both versions and their evidence so improvement is measurable.
Continue with a bounded plan after sign-in.
The first Draft is a starting point; the plan tells you what it can actually build.
